The history of Rome is closely linked to the one of the Castelli Romani not only in its history but also in terms of gastronomic traditions.
The Castelli Romani have always been considered a privileged holiday area since the time of the Roman Empire as evidenced by the numerous archaeological sites and noble villas characterizing the landscape.
It has always been not only the cool and mild climate of the Hills, the short distance from the seaside and the beauty of the landscapes to attract so many visitors, but also the good wine and the cuisine that you can enjoy in traditional “fraschette” ( taverns often transformed from ancient wineries).

What we propose is a 4-day full immersion of beauty, food and wine beginning with a guided tour in the center of the Eternal City: Trastevere, Campo de’ Fiori, Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and the Coloseum, with pleasant breaks at historical “trattorie” , dairy shops and bakeries.
We will then proceed toward the Castelli Romani where we will visit the Pope’s summer residence in Castel Gandolfo. To follow, we will visit Nemi, a small village well known for its flower production and wild strawberries.
To complete the experience, we propose a typical lunch at a “fraschetta” in Ariccia and a wine tasting experience at a local winery.

Day 1
Transfer Rome FCO/hotel in Rome; Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica; Dinner in Trastevere.

Day 2
walking day
9.30 Guided tour at Campo de’ Fiori and “Galleria Spada”, break at the old dairy shop for coffee tasting; guided tour of Piazza Navona, Pantheon and the Spanish Steps.
13.00 Lunch with fig pizza at Gino’s Bar or at Angelina’s bistrot.
14.30 In the afternoon, guided visit of the Coloseum, of the Forum and the ghetto. Break at a Jewish bakery with “crostata” or “tozzetti”
Wine tasting and dinner.
Transfer to the Castelli Romani and accomodation at hotel.

Day 3
Visit to the Pope’s summer residence and its gardens. Transfer to Ariccia and lunch at a “fraschetta”. Visit to Nemi with local pastry tasting “tortino”. Return to hotel. Dinner.

Day 4
Transfer to a local winery with wine tasting and light lunch.
Departure.
